This package represents the real experience and the taste of Tibetan highland adventure and an insight into Tibetan Buddhism. Ganden Monastery was first built in 1409, 45km east of Lhasa. Around 10 buildings have been restored, and the monastery looks splendid with barley fields, sprawling the valley floor, which is dotted with small villages. All trekkers interspersed in excursion to ancient monasteries will be enchanted during this trip.
The view of the surrounding areas from the pass is breathtaking. Dense alpine vegetation carpets the decent and wild flowers, birds, and possibly musk deer may be seen. Past the village of Yamalung and Nyengo south the trail ends at Samye. Samye, the first monastery founded in Tibet during the reign of King Trison Deutsen under the spiritual guidance of Padmasambhava (Guru Rimpoche) and the Indian abbot Shantarakshita. Renowned as the center where sutra and tantra texts were originally translated from Sanskrit, Samye today reflects the four schools of Tibetan Buddhism. The monastery was modeled on the Odantapuri temple in Bihar and is an architectural representation of the Buddhist cosmology. Summer can be wet, but the mountains are at their greenest and wild flowers spangle the alpine meadows. Before you start the trek you need a couple of days in Lhasa to acclimatize.
